Forward-Secure Hierarchical IBE with Applications to Broadcast Encryption
نویسندگان
چکیده
A forward-secure encryption scheme protects secret keys from exposure by evolving the keys with time. Forward security has several unique requirements in hierarchical identity-based encryption (HIBE) scheme: (1) users join dynamically; (2) encryption is joining-time-oblivious; (3) users evolve secret keys autonomously. We define and construct a scalable pairing-based forward-secure HIBE (fsHIBE) scheme satisfying all of the above requirements. We also show how our fs-HIBE scheme can be used to realize a forward-secure public-key broadcast encryption scheme, which protects the secrecy of prior transmissions in the broadcast encryption setting. We further generalize fs-HIBE into a collusion-resistant multiple hierarchical ID-based encryption scheme, which can be used for secure communications with entities having multiple roles in role-based access control. The security of our schemes is based on the bilinear Diffie-Hellman assumption in the random oracle model.

On Black-Box Constructions of Predicate Encryption from Trapdoor Permutations
Predicate encryption is a recent generalization of identitybased encryption (IBE), broadcast encryption, attribute-based encryption, and more. A natural question is whether there exist black-box constructions of predicate encryption based on generic building blocks, e.g., trapdoor permutations. Boneh et al. (FOCS 2008) recently gave a negative answer for the specific case of IBE. We show both n...
متن کاملHIBE with Polynomially Many Levels
We present the first hierarchical identity based encryption (HIBE) system that has full security for more than a constant number of levels. In all prior HIBE systems in the literature, the security reductions suffered from exponential degradation in the depth of the hierarchy, so these systems were only proven fully secure for identity hierarchies of constant depth. (For deep hierarchies, previ...
متن کاملGeneralized Key Delegation for Hierarchical Identity-Based Encryption
In this paper, we introduce a new primitive called identity-based encryption with wildcard key derivation (WKD-IBE, or “wicked IBE”) that enhances the concept of hierarchical identity-based encryption (HIBE) by allowing more general key delegation patterns. A secret key is derived for a vector of identity strings, where entries can be left blank using a wildcard. This key can then be used to de...

متن کاملFrom Selective IBE to Full IBE and Selective HIBE
Starting with any selectively secure identity-based encryption (IBE) scheme, we give generic constructions of fully secure IBE and selectively secure hierarchical IBE (HIBE) schemes. Our HIBE scheme allows for delegation arbitrarily many times.
